Saltus was created so that what is seen and learned in the clinics and hospitals of Latin America and the Caribbean reaches those who need it.
Founded in 2026 in Ecuador, it is an open-access scientific journal of clinical case reports from all specialties, published in Spanish and English. It grows from a simple conviction: the clinical experience of our region deserves to circulate with the same rigor, and the same visibility, as that of anywhere else in the world.
Each manuscript goes through editorial screening, double-anonymous peer review and a checklist matched to its design (CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA, SANRA, CARE or PROCESS). Everything we publish is free to read and download under a Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license, and we charge authors no fees.
Overview
Aims and scope
Aims
- Give visibility to clinical cases from Latin America and the Caribbean, across all specialties.
- Publish methodologically sound work, assessed through double-anonymous peer review and international reporting guidelines.
- Offer physicians, residents and health teams free, open access to evidence that is useful in practice.
- Support authors from the region, especially first-time authors, with clear and respectful editorial feedback.
Scope
We publish only two formats: case reports (one patient) and case series (several patients), from the clinical areas listed below. No other article types.
We accept manuscripts in Spanish or English. The title, abstract and keywords must always be provided in both languages. Each type of work is assessed with the reporting guideline that applies to it.
